Simplistic Geometric Nail Art

Hello all!

We have had a couple of rainy days here lately and I'm loving it, bring on winter! I can't wait for all the winter colours to get some good use! I'll have to start planning ahead and working on some designs. If you'd like to see me do something specific, leave a comment below.

I'm really not sure what to call these nails today... I had these two awesome colours that were very similar, so I had do something with them together... and this is what I came up with.

As I said, I have no idea what to call them. But I do like them. They were quick and still have an awesome impact.

Simplistic Geometric Nail Art with Green - BYS

So for these nails I used Zebra Turquoise - BYS from the Zebra nail polish kit, which is a metallic blue with blue and silver shimmer/fine glitters, Wham Bam - BYS, which is a metallic green with green and silver shimmer/fine glitters, and striping tape.

I am also currently using UNT - Ready for Take Off base coat & Sally Hansen - Big Kwik Dry top coats. This is what I use for most manis at the moment.

The technique was fairly simple. I used two coats of blue as a base, applied a quick dry top coat and allowed to dry. I used two pieces of striping tape to create a triangle in different areas of each nail then carefully painted inside the triangles with Green. The tape was then removed before allowing it to dry and then I finished with a quick dry top coat. That's all there is to it.

This one is great for a quick nail art when you're in a bit of a rush. Aside from drying time, it doesn't take long at all. Plus, this is one of those designs you can do with any number of colour combinations. I have actually done something a little similar in this post

Matte Stamping & Gradient with piCture pOlish

Welcome back lovely people!

I finally caved and bought me some piCture pOlish nail polish recently. They have a matte top coat called 'G'day Matte' which I thought was totally appropriate for The AustraNailian! So, of course I had to get it. I also purchased another awesome polish called 'Orchid' - a beautiful purple with silver holo flakes - and that is what inspired today's design.

Matte Stamping & Gradient
I also used Essence - Queen Of The Amazon which is a purple plum shimmer, Born Pretty - White stamping polish, Celestial - Camo Coat & QGirl stamping plate - 035.

This design was fairly simple. I applied two coats of Orchid on four of my nails, two coats of Queen Of The Amazon on my ring finger and allowed them to dry. Using plate 035 & white stamping polish, I stamped the design on top of the Orchid. Using Camo Coat to protect my skin, I applied Orchid & Queen Of The Amazon on a sponge to make a gradient on my ring finger. I applied a quick dry top coat to all and finished with G'day Matte top coat over the stamping designs, leaving the gradient with the shiny top coat.

I thought it would be interesting to have two different finishes on this design and I believe I am right. It looks awesome.

This Matte top coat is making me fall in love with matte designs. I have never really been a fan, but I guess I just didn't have the right formula. Keep an eye out, I plan on using this one at lot more.

What are your thoughts? Have you done different finishes in one mani? Would you do this?

Essie Classic Chevron Nail Art

Hola people!

I hope everyone has been having a good week!

Today we have a super simple design. I recently ordered some chevron vinyls and here we have these classic chevron nails.

Classic Chevron

As I said it was very simple. I painted each of my nails with two coats of Blanco - Essie, then added a quick dry top coat. After drying, I added the vinyls and painted over the chevrons with Cocktail Bling - Essie, and quickly removed them before drying. On my ring finger, I placed them on top of each other. Unfortunately, I overlapped them and didn't realize until I'd painted over them, and they turned out looking like diamonds.

Classic Chevron
I enjoyed having this design for a while, something simple & classic looking. I love this grey as well. It has a sort of blue & purple tint to it, so it looks different in different lighting & with other colours.

So that's all for this one! What are your thoughts? Leave me a comment & let me know!

Mermaid Smoosh Nail Art with Chi Chi

Howdy everyone & welcome back!

I feel like this week has just flown by!

Yesterday was my birthday, so these nails are inspired by my star sign (Pisces) & my personality.

I am so in love with these nails, I honestly wish they were permanent. I think these are the best nails I have done so far. Of course, I am a little biased.

So here they are!

Mermaid Smoosh Nail Art
As you can see, these nails are totally full on! I used a variety of polishes & other nail art items, which I have laid out in a list below.

Booty-Licious - Chi Chi, a beautiful pastel creme green.
Good Vibrations - Chi Chi, a purple creme with pink undertones. Also used here.
Boys, Boys, Boys - Chi Chi, a middle tone blue creme. Also used here.
Barbie Boy - Chi Chi, a soft pink creme.
Party Popper - BYS, confetti top coat with purple glitters & white flakes.
Black Stamping Polish - Born Pretty.
Stamping Plate 109 - Born Pretty.
Varying sized pearl nail studs.
Camo Coat - Celestial, liquid latex.

I really enjoyed doing these nails. The smoosh nails are so easy and they never turn out the same, try as you might. Plus, these pearls are so cute! Really glad I bought them.

I used two coats of Barbie Boy for a base. Once the base was dry, I used Camo Coat to protect my cuticle area and avoid messy fingers. Then, I randomly dropped Barbie Boy, Good Vibrations, Boys, Boys, Boys and Booty-Licious on to a stamper, and dabbed it around the nail. I removed the Camo Coat and applied a coat of Party Popper. Once that was dry I reapplied the Camo Coat. Using the 109 stamping plate & stamping polish, I stamped the scale pattern over all but one nail and removed the Camo Coat. Using a layer of top coat as adhesive, I arranged pearls around the cuticle area of my ring finger to create an accent nail, then finished it all off with a top coat.

I could not stop looking at these nails. They looked like something from an actual salon. I am so happy with how they turned out. Needless to say, I will be doing more of these glorious styled nails, so stay tuned!

I have done other nail designs using this stamping plate, you can check it out here.
Leave a comment and tell me which one you like better.

Mermaid Smoosh Nail Art up close.
Here's a close up of the pearls. This photo does them no real justice. They're so shiny and beautiful. They do have a slight pink-ish/purple-ish tint to them that looks amazing when they catch the light.

What are your thoughts? Would you try these? Let me know, I'd love to see them! I hope you all enjoy them as much as I do.

Also, I'd like to get your thoughts on something. I am thinking about doing some product reviews and possibly doing an additional weekly post for them. If you'd like to see/read that, or if there is anything you'd like to see here, leave me a comment and let me know.
